spASTiC CHildrEn;

back to main page
I have gathered all the info i can find about Metallica`s legendary (cough) side project SpaSTic childREN together on one page, if anyone else has any evidence of spastic goings on then feel free to email me
The whole idea behind SPasTIC ChilDren was to get drunk, play the wrong instruments and generally mess about, the music is pretty deadful punk rock and the only half-listenable stuff is the demo/rehersal tape listed at the bottom of the page
You know, Spastic Children are a bunch of FUCKIN' ASSHOLES!

Perpatrators;
- James Hetfield - singer & rhythm guitarist in Metallica.
- Cliff Burton - late bass player in Metallica.
- Kirk Hammett - lead guitarist in Metallica.
- Jason Newsted - Cliff`s replacement bassist in Metallica.
- Fred Cotton - no one special !, pretty much his idea in the first place.
- Paul Baloff - original singer in `Exodus`, later in `Pirahna`.
- Gary Holt - guitarist in `Exodus`.
- Doug Piercy - member of `Heathen`, ex-Exodus roadie.
- James `Flunkey` McDaniel - guitarist in bay area band `Pillage Sunday`.
- Jumbo - singer in bay area band `Pillage Sunday`.
- Jim Martin - ex-lead guitarist in `Faith No More`.
NOTES;
Jim Martin used to be a good freind of Cliff Burtons, the two of them were in a band called `easy street` way before Metallica were formed, SPaSTic ChildrEn was the brain child of Fred Cotton and originally had nothing to do with Metallica, the first show with the Exodus members was pretty bad and Fred asked the guys from Metallica to play instead

i`ve also heard of a few other dates which probably are miss dated, these include; 31/12/86, ??/02/87 and a date in brazil (!!) june/86 which seems decidedly unlikely
all of the linked shows i have on audio tape, the show marked `**` i also have on video, i have also heard of a video of the first two shows, any info on this would be appreciated

Demo / Studio Rehersal;

NOTES;
I have also seen a rehearsal listed from `85, no details but a running time of 15 minutes, it may actually be the same recording as this one.
