(released in mid `83, about 2 weeks after `Kill 'Em All`)

  1. The Music Connection/Megaforce USA 1983, white label Test Press w/ custom labels (MRS-04-A)
    Notes;
    Four copies known;
    One copy located in Usa, owned by Usa Collector, details to follow, dated mid 1983 
    One copy located in England, owned by Hector, undated (not 100% sure this is the 1983 version but i`m guessing the 29/01/85 versions were dated)
    One copy located in Usa, owned by Simon, undated (not 100% sure this is the 1983 version but i`m guessing the 29/01/85 versions were dated)
    One copy located in England, owned by Ray, undated (not 100% sure this is the 1983 version but i`m guessing the 29/01/85 versions were dated)

  2. Megaforce USA 1983, with raised silver labels & gold promo stamp on back cover (MRS-04)
    Notes;
    Few copies known, some copies have the 1985 vinyl inside

    Notes;
    At the moment i don`t have details on the 1983 matrix, if anyone has it let me know
    I also do not know if the 1983 version comes with flat gray labels

  4. The Music Connection/Megaforce USA 1985, rejected white label test pressing w/ custom labels dated 29/01/1985 (MRS-04-A)
    Notes;
    Four copies known, two confirmed 1985 copies;
    One copy located in England, owned by Hector, dated on cover & label
    One copy located in England, owned by Philip, dated on label
    One copy located in Spain, owned by Llorenc, unknown version
    One copy located in Norway, owned by Henning, unknown version 
    Records #1 - #4 are the first press with the original matrix detail;
    side A; `STERLING A- > MRS-04-A`
    side B; `STERLING A- > MRS-04-B`

  5. The Music Connection/Megaforce USA 1985, one sided white label test pressing w/ custom labels dated 15/02/85 (MRS-04-A)
    Notes;
    Megaforce made a batch of test pressings on 29/01/1985 (see above entry), these appear to have been faulty on side A and were not used
    Megaforce then made a re-take of side A on 15/02/1985, not bothering with side B as that appears to have been ok, this side A and the original side B were used for all subsequent pressings
    Matrix for side A; `STERLING B- > MRS-04-A-RE`
    Cover text; METALLICA TEST PRESSING (SIDE A `MRS 04 RE` 2-15-85) "WHIPLASH" RETAKE OF SIDE A
    One known copy exists, located in England, owned by Philip, dated, side B is blank

  6. Megaforce USA 1985, with raised silver labels (MRS-04)
    Notes;
    Two versions of the silver label version exist; one from 1983 and one from 1985
    Entries #6 - #10 are the 2nd pressings and all have matrix detail for the retake of side A;
    Side A; `STERLING B- > MRS-04-A-RE`
    Side B; `STERLING A- > MRS-04-B`
    The `RE` part of the matrix identifies it as one of the copies pressed from the 1985 test pressings listed above

  7. Megaforce USA 1985, with flat gray labels & `translucent` brown or green vinyl (MRS-04)

    Notes;
    The vinyl on the flat gray labelled pressing is transparent brown or green when held up to the light
    One known copy of the miss pressed cover is located in Australia, owned by Angelos
    The cover is offset about 2cm on the front & back covers

  9. Megaforce USA/England 1985, numbered picture disc with sticker (MRS-04)
    NOTES;
    #0001 appeared on ebay in june 2001 and sold for $2100
    #0005 located in Australia, owned by Angelos and was originaly owned by Mark Devito
    #0006 located in Usa, owned by Usa Collector
    #0008 located in Australia, owned by Alfredus
    #0016 located in England, owned by Hector
    #0016 (two more copies!) both located in Holland, owned by Matthijs *
    #3437 pictured, owned by Usa Collector, located in USA, highest numbered copy to date
    * At least some copies have the same numbers, three copies of #0016 exist and but this is currently the only confirmed `double`
    For some reason the whiplash picture disc says "Made In England" on the front
    Sticker; "Metallica `Whiplash` MRS 04"

  10. Megaforce USA/England 1985, un-numbered picture disc (MRS-04)
    Notes;
    The number on the picture discs is INSIDE the vinyl making it impossible to remove this second pressing was probably a later issue
    Un-numbered copies are less sought after (i.e. cheaper), but are slightly more difficult to find


  11. Megaforce USA 1986?, with flat gray labels, `translucent` brown vinyl & 3rd matrix (MRI 04)
    Notes;
    Entry #11 appears to be the third press, unsure of the date though but the matrix for side A is different again
    Side A; `MRS-04-A MASTERED BY FRANKFORD/WAYNE NEW YORK`
    Side B; `STERLING A- > MRS-04-B`

  12. "Megaforce" Europe 2009, bootleg two track 7" on colored vinyl (MRI 04)
    Notes;
    First appeared in april 2009 on red, yellow & green vinyls
