Howdy,
On this page are a few photos from the collection of Andrew from america, last year he had a fire in his office in his house which gutted the room fairly badly and trashed much of his collection, in helping him value the collection i reckoned this was about $20,000 worth and had at least 53 of the top 100 items

these pictures are hopefully enough to make people think about two things; 1) fire safety and 2) insurance for your collection (as many insurers will not count collections like this unless they are listed seperatly, i.e. you may get peanuts for years of collecting and many thousands of dollars spent

On the plus side however the fire only damaged this one room and no-one was hurt

UPDATE, 09/07/06; below i`ve just added photos from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, this is not so much a warning as there isn`t much you can do about this, the entire house was trashed!!!, the people were evacuated and took much of the important items from the house, this is what was left.

UPDATE; 06/03/07; at the bottom of the page is what happens when you buy a rare lp and some schmuck packs it for you, if you are buying RARE items it`s always a good idea to check with the shipper that he`ll pack it well and insurance is also a good idea!!
